But, you might ask, isn’t web3 bringing art to the masses? Has there ever been a time, where so many degens looked at so many beautiful things?
And I agree. Except, for when it comes to fashion.
The women of web3 have always lamented the non-existing fashion taste of the tech savy crypto bros who would only wear hoodies and cargos irl.
And if nerds wear a brand, it’s not a fashion brand per se, but a print of their favourite band.
So they do represent their tribe.
And they like functionality.
Now what if they could represent their belonging through a wearable that lives simultaneously in web3 and in real life?
Now in a space filled with screaming colors and childish comic faces, what is a project suitable for our minimal look?
Smartbags are a very nerdy on-chain art project because it represents the whole culture of an NFT project, on a contractual level, with one picture.
This makes it possible for us to create a project catering to a group that was entirely fashion agnostic before.
Because if NFTs manage to make fine art accessible to tech people, why not try the same with (virtual) clothing?
And from an artistic standpoint, I find it immensely inspiring to walk new paths, to combine these previously seperated worlds and grow network effects, together, in good web3 practice.
